Frequently Asked Questions

Question 1: What should I expect in my FREE 60 minute consultation?

In your consultation, I will guide you through a process designed to better understand where you are now and where you want to go. I will ask questions to gauge where you stand with your teen concerning communication, trust & respect, emotional support, boundaries & discipline, health & wellbeing, education & academic performance, independence & responsibility, conflict resolution, social life & peer relationships, technology & social media, quality time, cultural & ethical values, career & future planning, parental self-care, and financial literacy.

Next, we will discuss your priorities, set goals, and create a plan of action. My job is to help you get to where you want to be in the fastest, easiest, and most enjoyable way possible. Yes, "enjoyable!"

Finally, if we both determine that we are a good fit for working together, I will explain how it works, what to expect each week, and how we are going to tackle your goals.

Either way, the consultation is designed to give you clarity and point you in the right direction. There is nothing to lose!

Question 2: What is the difference between a Therapist and a Coach?

Therapists are primarily concerned with understanding the past and healing, while Coaches focus on creating the future from where you are at. Both roles are important, but they cater to different needs during the teenage years.

When navigating the teenage years, a Therapist focuses on understanding and resolving emotional and psychological issues. They delve into past experiences and feelings to help process current challenges. Therapists ensure that any underlying issues are addressed, providing a stable foundation for emotional well-being and healthy family dynamics. This can be a lengthy, but effective process.

A Coach concentrates on the here and now. The primary focus is goal-setting and future aspirations. A Coach uses practical strategies to empower both parents and teens to achieve their desired outcomes. Coaches help cultivate positive communication, motivation, and growth, tackling challenges with actionable plans. Coaching tends to be a quicker path to the desired outcome because it is only addressing obstacles directly related to the current obstacle.
